Biohacking Conference Takeaways

Hey Y’all,

I just got back from the 9th annual biohacking conference in Orlando, Florida, and I'm still recovering from all the mind-blowing (and sometimes mind-boggling) things I saw.

If you're not familiar with biohacking, it's the practice of using technology and science to hack your own biology and optimize your health and well-being. Picture this: a convention center buzzing with people in blue light blocking glasses, hopping in and out of ice baths and hyperbaric chambers, and testing out new skin elixirs. It was like a scene straight out of a sci-fi movie, but with fewer aliens and more people geeking out about mitochondria. (Who knew our cellular powerhouses could be so exciting?)

(Me testing out a hyperbaric chamber)

The conference was packed with cutting-edge research and gadgets. I learned about everything from how to use infrared saunas to boost your immune system to how to use microdosing to improve your cognitive performance.

Of course, no biohacking conference would be complete without a few wacky experiments. I saw people getting their hair counted, getting their blood spun in centrifuges, and even getting their DNA sequenced.

But even with all the hype, there was also a lot of substance. I came away from the conference with a renewed sense of excitement about the future of health and wellness.

The real highlight of the conference was the people. I met some of the most passionate and dedicated biohackers from all walks of life, and I was inspired by their commitment to taking control of their own health. Now, let's get down to business and spill the "bio-tea."

Here are some highlights and practical takeaways that might just revolutionize your daily routine:

  • Nutrition:

  • Avoid processed foods and sugary drinks. Shop the parameter of the grocery store (think produce, fresh animal protein, select supplements, etc.).

  • Avoid Grains, Seed Oils, Gluten, Corn / Soy products and oils.

  • One free app I’ve been using lately is called Yuka. You can scan a barcode and the app rates how healthy or clean a product is. *One note - I think you need more salt than the app does.

  • Healthy Hair & Balding Reversal: Yes, it’s possible!

  • Nutrients like Biotin, Collagen, and Saw Palmetto are useful in maintaining what hair you have.

  • The latest treatments include Microneedling, Platelet Rich Plasma, Stem Cells, Peptides (ex. GHK-Cu), and FUE Hair Transplant through redistribution (no linear scarring).

  • Sleep Hacking: Becoming a Slumber Ninja - Who needs to count sheep when you can hack your way to dreamland? Sleep, my dear friends, is the ultimate biohack. Top tips:

  • Keep your room cool at night (65-68°F)

  • Use a cooling / heating device like Ooler or Eight Sleep

  • Exercise Regularly: We know this, but it was reinforced daily. Even a little bit of exercise is better than none. Ideally cardio 3-4x per week and weights 3x/week. Both for 45 mins +. So, get your movements in DAILY! It’s like brushing your teeth… how often do you skip that?

I hope this has been useful for you! If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. All questions go directly to me.

Stay curious & biohacked,

Billy

P.S. If you forward this email to a friend or family member, they'll get a free hyperbaric chamber!

P.P.S. Just kidding. But they will get a free subscription to my biohacking newsletter.
